Travelling to Stewart Island

Transport options to Stewart Island are either by ferry or flight. 

Ferries depart from Bluff, flights depart Invercargill Airport, Queenstown Airport and Bluff.

The ferry crossing takes approximately one hour; flights vary depending on departure point.

With daily direct flights into Invercargill from Wellington and Christchurch, connecting flights from Auckland, and scenic flights from Queenstown, getting to Stewart Island couldn’t be easier.  If you prefer road travel, why not sit back and let someone else drive.  There are daily coach connections to Invercargill from Dunedin, Te Anau, Queenstown and Christchurch and many more locations in-between!
