Your hosts - Raylene Waddell and Cairn Terrier, Lochiel.
It will be our privilege to help you experience the magic that is Stewart Island.
I have been holidaying here since childhood and have lived here for the last 25 years.
Glendaruel is our much loved home. From its sheltered balconies and wide deck it offers superb views of sea and native forest.
The house is warm - central heating and double glazing see to that. The spacious guest lounge has modern, comfortable seating, antiques and artwork, and a host of birding and Stewart Island-themed books.
The Queen room and the Twin room, both ensuite, are quiet, private and have tea/coffee making facilities.
Birders, gardeners and photographers love the colourful gardens which surround the house and feature both native and exotic plantings. The gardens attract a wide variety of birds - kaka, kereru, tui, bellbird and more - even kiwi on occasion!
The kitchen garden provides rhubarb for your breakfast (cooked or continental) and potatoes and salad, should you come back with fish, which I will cook for you.
Your Glendaruel experience starts when I meet you at air or ferry terminal and ends when I take you back there.
A hundred thousand welcomes!
