Third Island Gin & Vodka

Award-winning Third Island Gin & Vodka are handcrafted by Stewart Island’s own Rakiura Distilling Company – founded with the goal of capturing the essence of Rakiura / Stewart Island in the best way we knew how.

Each and every bottle we produce aims to showcase this beautiful island we call home.  We’ve worked hard to perfect our blend of hand-foraged botanicals directly from the pristine environment around us.  Small batch, handcrafted production techniques ensure unequalled quality and a taste of Rakiura in every drop.

Our flagship offering Third Island Gin is a traditional dry gin complemented by the unique spice of native rainforest botanicals.  Locally hand-foraged mānuka, rimu & horopito dance alongside classic gin botanicals in a sub-Antarctic shower of some of the world’s freshest rainfall – our distillery’s only water source.

Third Island Vodka – our latest core release – utilises an innovative filtration technique that incorporates sustainably-foraged pāua, mussel & oyster shells from the pristine local shores of the vast Southern Ocean.  A final, polishing touch of tannin-rich waters results in an exquisite mouthfeel and delicate minerality fully absent of any pronounced additional flavour.

Due to our consent terms, our distillery is not open to the public and we do not provide tastings, tours or cellar door sales. We do however ship orders throughout New Zealand as well as providing a ‘click & collect’ option via our website for visitors to the island.

Third Island Gin & Vodka are available for purchase both via ‘click & collect’ from our website and for takeaway from the South Sea Hotel bar and restaurant.
